Product care
Roger Vivier bags and accessories are made with materials carefully selected for their exceptional quality.
To preserve their durability and original beauty, we advise you to look after them with the utmost care.
To preserve their durability and original beauty, we advise you to look after them with the utmost care.
- How to maintain Roger Vivier leather or canvas bags?To keep the shape of your bag, avoid overfilling it. When not in use, fill it with paper to maintain its shape and absorb moisture, then store it in the protective pouch you received with your purchase. Avoid placing it near heat sources, as this could dry out the material. Protect it from direct light, humidity, rain and rough surfaces. If your bag gets wet, be sure to wipe it dry immediately with a soft cloth.
- Calfskin and cowhide leatherRoger Vivier's calfskin and cowhide leathers are meticulously selected for their elegance, suppleness and silky feel, and may show natural marks such as veins or creases.
Substances such as oils, make-up, perfumes, creams or disinfectants can alter their natural beauty and qualities. To remove superficial stains, we recommend using a soft cloth dampened with water.
- Patent & mirror leatherTo preserve the patent leather of your bag, avoid contact with materials that may transfer colour pigments, such as magazines, denim or other leathers. Also avoid direct exposure to sunlight and artcifial light, which can cause discolouration, especially for more sensitive light shades, which can turn yellow or fade in intensity.
For maintenance, use a soft slightly damp light-coloured cloth to clean the leather, then wipe with a clean soft dry cloth.
- VelvetFor velvet pieces, use a soft bristle brush to gently stroke the velvet in the direction of the pile. This will remove any dust and dirt particles that may accumulate on the surface of the bag.
For light stains or soiling, use a clean cloth slightly dampened with lukewarm water to gently dab the affected area. Avoid getting the velvet bag as wet as possible, as water can alter its texture and colour.
- Suede leatherAt Roger Vivier, the suede leathers used for bags are mainly calfskin. This suede leather is obtained through a special polishing treatment. It gives a beautiful velvety finish and a soft appearance that reflects light in different ways. Sensitive to light and stains, colours may fade slightly. It is therefore a very delicate material that needs to be treated with care.
- Use a soft bristle brush to remove dirt and dust. Brush gently in the direction of the grain to avoid damaging the leather and preserve its velvety consistency.
- In the event of contact with water, dab gently with an absorbent cloth.
Remove fresh stains as soon as they appear, using a clean and dry cloth.
- Store your suede bag in a dry, well-ventilated place, away from heat and direct sunlight.
- FabricsFabric bags should never be immersed in water, as this could damage them. After cleaning, let your fabric bag air-dry before storing it in its pouch. Avoid sources of light and heat.
Satin
Roger Vivier satin is made in Italy from carefully selected silk and viscose fibers. It is very delicate and sensitive to fraying. To clean, delicately wipe with a slightly damp cloth, making gentle circular movements. Be careful not to damage this fabric by rubbing it against abrasive surfaces.
Velvet
Roger Vivier uses a shiny, soft and plush velvet. Slight marks may be visible if the fabric is pressed, but these are easily removed if the fabric is delicately steamed. It can be cleaned with a damp sponge, rubbing very gently. As this is an extremely delicate product, beware of rubbing, which can cause the velvety effect to disappear.
Denim
Roger Vivier's denim is a classic cotton premium Japanese denim. It should be cleaned with a garment stain remover. To remove dust and lighter stains, use a clean soft cloth slightly dampened with water.
Monogrammed cotton and linen fabrics
Clean with a soft dry cloth, taking care not to apply too much pressure. Do not expose to high temperatures and do not dry-clean with perchloric ethylene. Avoid abrasive products and steam. Beware of contact with jewellery or other objects, as it may cause the fabric to fray.
- RaffiaRaffia is a handcrafted material made from plant fibers by highly skilled artisans. The use of natural filaments in the piece gives the surface its characteristic roughness, pattern and colour. Slight variations in tone and the effect of natural shading, or any other imperfections, are not to be considered defects but as integral to the material itself.
Maintaining a raffia bag requires a few precautions to maintain it in good condition.
- To clean the product, we recommend using a soft, dry cloth, taking care not to exert too much pressure, which could lead to discoloration.
- Avoid exposure to water wherever possible, as raffia is sensitive to humidity. If your bag does get wet, let it air-dry, away from any source of direct heat.
-Use a soft brush to remove dust and light dirt.
- Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight or other sources of heat.
- When not in use, store your raffia piece in a dry place away from direct sunlight. You can also store them in the pouch provided.
- Exotic creationsBecause of their natural treatment, it's crucial to protect exotic leathers from humidity, spills and rain. Contact with liquids can alter the texture by causing permanent stains and color transfer. In the event of contact with water, immediately and gently dab the affected area with an absorbent, light-colored, lint-free cloth. Exposure to sunlight should be avoided to prevent discoloration.
Scaled leathers
Crocodile and python leathers are particularly sensitive to humidity and heat, which can cause permanent detachment of the leather's scales. We recommend avoiding the use of creams or cleaning products that could stain the item.
Ornamental fabrics
Models adorned with metallic leathers, pearl embroidery, feathers, sequins or prints require special care. They should be cleaned only with a soft, clear, lint free cloth.
