FW19 Catalog Shoot - Jewels to Shoes
The creativity of a Maison is expressed through its collections, its eclecticism on all of its productions. With his passion for the arts, Gherardo Felloni, Creative Director of Roger Vivier, reinterpreted the famous baroque scene of the cult film ""Io la conoscevo bene"" by the great Italian director Antonio Pietrangeli, and made it the backdrop for his latest collection. The film, and consequently the catalogue, stars the incomparable actress-producer and Academy Award winner Susan Sarandon, the talented AnnaSophia Robb and other young actors, equally endearing by their distinct personalities. Viv’ Mag brings you behind-the-scenes for a closer look.
An opulent mansion built in the 19th century, nestled in a beautiful garden on the banks of the Hudson River in Yonkers, New York. Its wooden balustrades date back to the 16th and 18th centuries, with stained glass windows and a baroque interior, reminiscent of Old Europe.
The flamboyant Susan Sarandon embodies the role of a demanding drama teacher who stands out for her theatrical prowess, her obsession for shoes and her trusty dog, Tuna. Among her group of students, AnnaSophia Robb turns out to be the most promising, but alongside her acting skills, she knows how to express her stylish side dressed in Roger Vivier – a fact that does not escape her mentor. As the class obviously struggles with their three lessons: laughter, speech and accents, the plot takes a comedic turn. “Jewels to Shoes” is definitely a humorous and very imaginative setting to unveil the collection this Fall/Winter season.
This eclectic scene provides the backdrop for all the stars of the Fall/Winter collection: the Très Vivier patent leather Chelsea boots, the workwear-inspired Viv’ Utility boots and the new Viv 'Run ski boots – all designed to face the winter cold in style. Together with the Beau Vivier, the season’s must-have bag, which comes in a palette of vibrant or neutral colors ranging from magenta, purple and bright green to classic black. Materials, such as sumptuous leathers, interwoven with soft velvet and refined satin, illuminated by precious crystals, also claim the spotlight. These are the jewels of the collection, jewels that leave our heads spinning with awe. A formidable film production that pays tribute to the exceptional know-how, creativity and style of Maison Roger Vivier.
